Consulting and orientation desk

The consulting and orientation desk aims at guiding life scientists for the integration of bioinformatics analyses in their research projects. Ideally, this support should accompany a project research since its initial conception, in order to ensure the adequacy between the experiments and their design, the data produced, and the analysis workflows that will be used to extract relevant information. This process will include a prospective evaluation of some strategic choices linking the experiment and downstream analyses (e.g. sequencing parameters, number of replicates, quality controls, data formats, ...), which will raise awareness of the data treatment pipelines upstream of the projects. This will avoid the too familiar situation where the biologist requests assistance to a bioinformatics platform only after the data has been produced, and thus too late to adapt the experimental design in order to ensure the relevance of the statistical and bioinformatics analyses. Communication and training actions will also contribute to the evolution of these practices.
