Welcome to Institut Français de Bioinformatique
The French Institute of BioInformatics (IFB) is the national bioinformatic infrastructure created in the context of the French government initiative “Investissements d’Avenir”.
It aims to mutualize, support and coordinate the bioinformatics resources and development activities for various research fields depending on public funds (CNRS, INRA, INRIA, CEA and INSERM but also universities, the CIRAD, and the Pasteur et Curie institutes).
The prime mission of the IFB is to provide to biology and life science communities, nor private or public, a constant support on their projects valued by a certified level of expertise and by granting them access to ambitious projects on an international level.
With the will to maintain French research at its highest competitivity and performance level, the FIB aims to anticipate the necessities of this research field and joins the common efforts in the methodological innovating programs, especially to fulfill the requirements brought by the merge of Integrative bioinformatics.
The two main actors alongside the FIB are the French Society of Bioinformatic (SFBI) and the Research Group in Molecular Bioinformatic (GdR BIM).
For further information, you will find a list of the French laboratories invested in bioinformatic activities by following this link.
The FIB is the French node in the network Elixir, an organization dedicated to the bioinformatic science field in Europe.
